Audition Notice – Witness for the Prosecution

Season – November 2012 at Hamilton Town Hall
Rehearsals – TBA but we’ll work around performers’ other commitments
Audition Requirements – Auditionees may prepare a piece in any style, and/or do a cold reading from the script. Please bring a 1 page resume (including a head shot) with you. If you don’t have a resume, please bring a photo with you – nothing fancy – just so that we can put a name to a face.

Roles – There has been no pre-casting and all roles are available. (Originally most of the roles were male, but could just as easily be played by women, and in a couple of cases (Carter and Mayhew) the roles would probably best suit females).

Greta (F) typist to Sir Wilfred, playing age 16-25
Carter (F/M) Sir Wilfred’s Chief Clerk/Office Manager, playing age mature
Mayhew (F/M) Leonard Vole’s Solicitor, playing age mature
Leonard Vole (M) Accused of Murder, playing age mid-20s
Sir Wilfred Roberts, QC (M) Counsel for the defence, playing age 45-70 (this is a huge role, he is in ever scene and the play revolves around his performance. If you are auditioning for this role, please be aware that the time commitment during the rehearsal period will be enormous)
Inspector Hearne (M) Homicide detective from Scotland Yard
Plain-Clothes Detective (M) age open
Romaine (F) Leonard Vole’s Wife, playing age 30-45 (THE witness for the prosecution)
Clerk of the Court/Court Usher (M/F) age open
Mr Justice Wainright (M) Judge, playing age 55-death
Mr Myers, QC (M/F) Prosecuting counsel, playing age 30-65
Dr Wyatt, a Police Surgeon (M/F) age open
Janet MacKenzie (F) Victims assistange, playing age 40-70 (Scottish accent preferred)
Mr Clegg, a laboratory assistant (F/M) age open
The Other Woman (F) playing age 18-30
