Tuckshop review – ABC

ABC Review

Our “homegrown” production, Tuckshop the musical was reviewed by Family Affairs reporter Susan Hetherington on 612 ABC Brisbane.

Susan’s comments included,

..the locally written tribute to tuckshop mums will resonate with anyone who has served in or even eaten at the school tuckshop Tuckshop The Musical focuses on tuckshop and school from both adult and children’s perspectives. It is a play for adults, not a children’s play although it is suitable for children. There are characters we can all relate to and some very funny dialogue plus a story that binds it together.

The review can be read here or heard here (about halfway throught the podcast).

Tuckshop the Musical being loved by audiences

Tuckshop the musical

We’ve been having a great response from audiences for Front Row Theatre’s latest production, the “home baked” Tuckshop The Musical opens its world premiere season on Saturday 6 November at Hamilton Town Hall.

This sweet and funny musical is written by Julie Bray, Leah Pellinkhof and Samantha Wolf. It is directed by Leah Pellinkhof already well known in Brisbane Theatre circles for her quirky original productions, including Shakespeare’s Girly Bits, My Pet Human (nominated for a Matilda Award) and Hamilton Hall The Musical, which was a Q150 project honouring the role of historic Hamilton Town Hall in the local community and a popular hit last year. Samantha Wolf, one of the composers from Hamilton Hall The Musical has composed some wonderful catchy songs for this new show.

Tuckshop The Musical focuses on tuckshop and school from both adult and children’s perspectives. It is a play for adults, not a children’s play although it is suitable for children (rated PG).

Tuckshop mums (and dads) will be able to relate to this musical as well as anyone who remembers their school days with the Queensland Education system.

Times are Friday and Saturday nights on 6, 12, 13,19, 20, 26 and 27 November and 3 and 4 December at 7.30pm and on 13 November at a 2pm matinee.

Bookings will be essential and can be made by emailing info@frontrow.org.au or by phoning the booking line on 0488 011 219.
